Somalia opens National Security Transition Conference

Mogadishu (SD) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisaid Muse Ali, accompanied by Ministers of Defense Hassan Hussein Haji and Security Abdullahi Mohamed Nur, Commanders of the Armed Forces and the Police, opened a meeting of the Steering Committee on Somalia’s National Security Council (STP SSC).

The commission’s two-day meeting will focus on how Somalia can take full responsibility for the countries security.

This conference will review the lessons learned and the progress made in the early stages of the Somali Security Plan (STP), and build a unified plan that will move Somalia quickly towards the end of its security transition.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisaid Muse Ali, who spoke at the conference, commended the Commission for its national responsibility, highlighting the importance of the Commission’s work and plans for the future.

“The launching of this Commission is a testament to Somalia ‘s commitment to take over its national security. This forum is to hold discussion and to provide direction on the plan to take responsibility for our national security. It is up to you to evaluate the implementation of the previous parts of the plan, the challenges and the lessons learned, as well as provide a roadmap for the completion of the later stages of this plan. ” said Minister Abdisaid.

Other speakers at the conference also underlined the importance of implementing Somalia’s plan to take over national security, while never accepting other plans that are not in line with the wishes of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
