MOGADISHU (SD) – Somalia’s two houses of parliament approved the 2022 budget after three days of heated debate, and the report submitted by the Transitional Federal Financial Institutions Committee included recommendations for review.
The Speaker of the House has appointed a committee to investigate last four year’s budgets which have not been presented to the two Houses of Parliament, despite the Minister of Finance saying he did.
For the past two days, the Finance Minister Abdirahman Duale Beyle has faced tough questions about the country’s financial system, which has come from members of both houses of parliament.
The main issue facing the finance minister is the lack of accountability since 2018 and whether the international contributions are aid or a loan to Somalia.
