NY (SD) – For the first time in 35 years, Somalia has been removed from the list of countries in arrears to the United Nations General Assembly.
Somalia, which is currently a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, has fully settled its membership dues and is no longer on the list of countries owing arrears.
According to the UN Charter, a member state in arrears loses its voting rights in the General Assembly.
A document released by the UN General Assembly revealed the list of nine countries currently in arrears, with Somalia notably absent.
