Somalia: PM Hamze shed tears as he commemorated his mother

Mogadishu March 08, 2023 (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Hamse Abdi Barre, who participated in the event celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8th, praised Somali women for their contribution to society.

The Prime Minister also praised the role Somali women, and mothers play in the stability of both their families and their country. Mr. Barre expressed his commitment to ensuring that the Somali government respects the rights of women and their participation in political and social affairs.

“The Somali government is committed to promoting Somali women, educating Somali women, supporting their livelihoods, protecting their rights, dignity, and the status that God has given them. Since the establishment of the government, Somali women have been the largest and most active group, but also the most valuable,” he said.

Mr. Barre also emotionally spoke about the struggles faced by his own mother and shared her story, highlighting the difficulties many women face.

The Prime Minister pledged to support Somali women in their pursuit of security and thanked them for their important contributions.
