Somalia: PM Roble declares state of emergency

Mogadishu (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has declared an state of emergency, due to the humanitarian crisis caused by the drought.

The PM released the statement, after the PM held an extraordinary meeting on the Council of Ministers.

“After I have heard the report by the recently appointed drought committee, which shows that the country is in a difficult situation. Therefore, we declare that the country has entered an emergency humanitarian situation and emergency aid is needed from domestically and from Internationally ” said PM Roble.

The PM called on the Somali people, entrepreneurs, diaspora to help their fellow country people at this time of need.

The Prime Minister’s statement comes as a severe drought hit parts of the Somali regions, recently killing people in Gedo region.
