Bossaso May 30, 2023 (SD) – The President of Puntland, Mr. Said Abdullahi Deni, today inspected the Port of Bossaso where the construction and development of the expansion are progressing well.

The President visited various sections of the ongoing construction, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Urban Development and DP World, the company responsible for the management of the port.

The port construction spans 450 meters, with the longest jetty measuring 150 meters. The width of the jetty is 30 meters, and the construction of the first jetty is currently 70% complete. An additional 215 meters will be constructed as part of the ongoing work, connecting it with the previous jetty.

There will also be a 4000-meter container section, a port cooler, an entrance and exit road, and a three-story building operated by state government agencies.

Since assuming office, President Deni has prioritized the development of the Bossaso Port. He has worked towards the implementation of the agreement signed between the P&O Ports company and the government to enhance the port’s construction and overall development.

The President officially laid the foundation stone for the port’s expansion and development on January 24, 2023.
