Somalia: Puntland Journalists Association Condemns Arrest of Journalist Kilwe

Garowe (SD) – The Puntland Journalists Association (MAP) has accused the regional government of violating the constitution.

“The Puntland State Government has violated Articles 12, 14, 18, 19, 21, 22, 25, 26 and 27 of the Constitution.” MAP said in an statement.

MAP’s statement comes as Puntland authorities arrested a Puntland journalist a few days ago.

“Puntland Intelligence and Security Agency (PISA) kidnapped journalist Kilwe Aden Farah eight nights ago, MAP, relatives and lawyers, are not allowed to visit, this is a violation of Articles 12, 14, 18, 19, 21, 22, 25, 26 and 27 of the Puntland Constitution.” Said MAP

MAP added “MAP expresses concern over Kilwe’s health condition, and calls for doctors to examine his physical and psychological well-being. We once again call on the Puntland government not to violate the law and to abide by the constitution and the laws of the land, and we demand Kilwe’s unconditional release.”

Puntland Journalists Association MAP calls on human rights organizations and the people of Puntland not to remain silent about abuses against the media.
