Mogadishu (SD) – A specially trained Somali police force (Harmcad) was targeted with roadside bomb in the early hours of this morning on the outskirts of Mogadishu.

A vehicle carrying the troops was reportedly hit by a roadside bomb in Elasha Biyaha, according to locals who spoke with the media.

The Harmcad troops sustained heavy casualties, they were reportedly traveling to Mogadishu when attacked.

Witnesses said the explosion killed at least five Harmcad police soldiers, while others suffered various injuries.

Other Somali government security forces arrived at the scene, and can be seen investigating the scene.

The Somali authorities did not comment on who is suspected of carrying out the attack.
