Mogadishu September 16, 2023 (SD) – The National Army and residents carried out an operation in the Qodqod area located on the outskirts of the city of Cámara in the Mudug region.

Reports indicate that the joint forces successfully entered the area and several other nearby regions, with a particular focus on the city of Cámara, which is the largest stronghold of Al-Shabaab in the Mudug region.

The areas that have been reached so far include Xiin-labi, Maarsa-mage, Galxagare, Hul-doonyaale, Sargo, and Qodqod.

“The National Army and the local security forces involved in the operation against the Khawarij extremists in Galmudug are determined to eliminate the threat posed by the Khawarij,” said a high-ranking officer from the National Army.

“Today, a significant step has been taken, and they will continue to discuss what happened today in Sargo and Qodqod, located in the heart of the city of Cámara,” added the officer, who is currently on the front lines of the battle.
