Las Anod September 15, 2023 (SD) – Today, a high-level delegation from the Federal Government of Somalia, comprising ministers and parliamentarians, arrived in the city of Las Anod, the capital of Sool region.

Members of the delegation from the Somali government included the Minister of Ports and Transport, Jama Hassan Khalif, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdullahi Haji Timacadde, MP Bashir Ameriko, MP Ali Saeed Fiqi, and former minister Hamse Saeed Hamse.

The delegation was welcomed at Las Anod Airport by local SSC (Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn) authorities, military officials, and various community representatives. They were then taken to the areas affected by the recent clashes between Somaliland and SSC-Khatumo forces.

During their visit, the federal government delegation held discussions and conveyed their intention to provide official information to the federal government about the situation in Las Anod. They also emphasized their commitment to working with the local SSC-Khaatumo administration.

Members of the delegation expressed their delight at the unity and brotherhood among the Somali people, especially within the SSC-Khaatumo region. They appreciated the warm welcome they received from the people and leadership of SSC-Khaatumo.

The leadership and people of SSC-Khaatumo also expressed their gratitude to the federal government delegation for their visit to Las Anod.

The delegation’s visit marks a significant federal government presence in Las Anod and a potential step towards federal engagement in the region.
