Somalia suspects UAE facilitated Pres. Bihi’s visit to Guinea

Mogadishu July 18, 20199SD)-The Horn of Africa newspaper confirms that the Somali government suspects an Arab country took a crucial part in President Muse Bihi Abdi’s visit to Guinea this month and the warm welcome he has received.

Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Issa Awed said in a statement Tuesday that the an unnamed country facilitated President Bihi’s visit.

“Gini invited  a leader who is trying to divide Somalia and and it is not in line with international relations and resolutions of our associations and with Guinea, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the African Union, so I think Guinea was vulnerable to pressure from another country with knowing that This is a violation of the law, “he said.

However, reports from the Horn of Africa newspaper have confirmed that the government of Abu Dhabi has been blamed for facilitating for the visit.

The Farmajo Government is basing it’s suspicion a mining investment by the UAE government in Guinea and UAE’S Investment in the Berbera port in Somaliland.

The information also provided by the Horn of Africa confirms that the Somali government has suspicion that the president’s visit to Guinea is closely linked to a negotiated agreement with Somaliland and Russia.

A few days earlier, Somalia’s President Mohamed Abdillahi Farmajo met with a Russian diplomat in the capital, Mogadishu, where he expressed his concern that Russia would be looking at Somaliland.

Given the number of Somali government officials who have been talking about President Bihi’s visit to Guinea, it seems that Mogadishu is still confused with that unexpected outcome.
