Somalia: The Union of Candidates take a strong stance on the ongoing elections

Mogadishu (SD) – Spokesman for the Council of Presidential Candidates Dahir Mohamud Guelleh who spoke to the media in Mogadishu, said they had been asking for free and fair elections in the country for some time, but the entrusted leadership of Villa Somalia has failed.

He added that the Council of Presidential Candidates’ efforts had led to opposing an extension, and that they were still seeking a fair and transparent election to be held in the country.

Spokesman Dahir Guelleh went on to say that the way the election process is going, it will lead to destruction, disgrace in the country.

“We want to share it with the Somali People and the rest of the world, we are fully satisfied with the way things are going so far, will result in a widespread destruction in the country, which we do not want to happen while we are alive and able to deal with it,” he said.

Adding “Council of Presidential Candidates will hold regular meetings in the coming days to discuss ways to rescue the Somali community from the looting and from destruction process.”

The Union of Candidates, which have not been collectively discussing the electoral process for some time, now appear to be taking a united stand on the election issues, which is shrouded in ambiguity.
