Somalia to send troops to the Ethiopian Border

MOGADISHU (SD)-The Federal Government of Somalia has announced steps to prevent the illegal import of weapons into the country, primarily originating from Ethiopia.

Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Ahmed Macalin Fiqi stated that the federal government plans to deploy troops along the country’s borders to control the flow of illegal weapons.

Fiqi indicated that this measure is part of efforts to strengthen national security and prevent the influx of illegal weapons, which pose a threat to the country’s overall stability.

The Somali government, having successfully lifted the arms embargo, is now focused on controlling the illegal importation of weapons as the country faces ongoing conflicts with Al-Shabaab and diplomatic tensions with Ethiopia, which has violated Somalia’s sovereignty.
