Mogadishu (SD) – A statement from the Somali Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on its twitter account today said the Somali government supports the unity of Ethiopia, as the government of the country is at war with the Tigrean state administration.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has later on the same day deleted the statement supporting of Ethiopia’s unity and called for dialogue between the warring parties.
Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Awad Isse on a tweet said the news posted on the Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs website was unofficial.
Sources familiar with matter confirm that the Somali government’s statement did not go far enough, and the Ethiopian government wanted a stronger support statement.
