Somalia’s Electoral Dispute Resolution Committee Clears former Spy Chief’s Seat

MOGADISHU (SD) -The Electoral Disputes Resolution Committee in Somalia has today validated six seats in the 11th Federal Parliament, which were elected a few days ago in Beledweyne, the capital of Hiran region.

A released press statement from the Committee Chairman, confirmed that they have investigated the disagreements about the six seats, and decided to proceed with clearing the seats. One of the disputed seats was secured by the former Spy Chief and NISA Director, Fahad Yasin.

The Commission has stated that there have not been any official complaints indicted for these seats during the timeframe set by commission, and it resulted in all the six seats to be cleared.

The Federal Electoral Commission has previously postponed and delayed the elections for the controversial HOP86 seat gained by Fahad Yasin.
