MOGADISHU (SD) – Members of both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia today jointly approved the National Elections Law.
The joint session of both Houses of Parliament was chaired by the Speaker of the House of the People, Adan Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), along with the Speaker of the Upper House, Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, and the deputies of both Houses.
Mahdi Mohamed Guled, the Chairman of the Interim Committee of both Houses of Parliament responsible for drafting the Elections Law, first shared the report of the third reading of the National Elections Law with the Members of Parliament.
Afterwards, Members of both Houses voted on the law, with 169 Members approving it, two Members opposing, and one Member abstaining, as announced by Speaker Sheikh Adan Madoobe, who declared the voting results.
The Minister of the Interior of the Federal Government of Somalia, MP Ali Yusuf Ali-Hoosh, gave a brief speech during the session and thanked both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia for passing the National Elections Law.
