Somalia’s Prime Minister holds closed-door meetings with Kenyan security officials

NAIROBI (SD) – The latest reports on the visit of Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, to Kenya indicate that he has held closed-door meetings with the Director of Kenya’s National Intelligence Service (NIS), Nuradin Mohamed Yusuf Haji, and the Chief of Defense Forces Intelligence (KDF).

According to reliable sources, these meetings focused on the tense situation in Jubaland.

Hamza Barre discussed with Kenyan officials the issues facing Jubaland.

Kenya, which is one of Somalia’s neighboring countries and has peacekeeping troops in Somalia, mostly stationed in the Jubaland regions, is concerned that the conflict between the Federal Government and the Jubaland Administration could provide an opportunity for Al-Shabaab forces in Jubaland.

Hamza also met with traditional elders and prominent businessmen from the Absame clan, urging them to address the unrest caused by Ahmed Madobe and bring it back to the path of governance.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Ahmed Madobe has been summoned to Kenya for critical meetings to resolve the conflict with Hamza Barre, Kenyan officials, and clan leaders.
