MOGADISHU (SD) -The Chief of the Somali National Army, General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyiddin, and officers from the African Union Forces ATMIS contingent held a meeting today and discussed the ongoing battle against the Al-Shabaab group in Somalia.
During the meeting, representatives from both military forces discussed strategies to strengthen the collaboration between the ATMIS forces and the Somali National Army to effectively combat the groups involved in the conflict.
General Muxudiin informed the ATMIS officers that they were resuming operations against the Al-Shabaab group and called upon them to provide support to the ongoing fight.
The peacekeeping troops in Somalia, under ATMIS, have made significant progress in the country’s peacekeeping efforts over the past two years, achieving numerous successes in operations that have liberated many areas from the control of Al-Shabaab.
