QORILUGUD (SD)-A fierce battle between SSC-Khatumo and Somaliland forces has been ongoing for the past two days in the regions of Qoriludug and Shanged, resulting in numerous casualties, including deaths and injuries.

The spokesperson for the Somaliland military, Abdi Abdillahi Abdi Dheere, stated that Somaliland forces and local SSB forces achieved victories in the battles fought in the Shanged area against SSC-Khatumo forces over the past two days.

He claimed that SSC-Khaatumo forces suffered defeats in today’s battle, stating that the purpose of this renewed conflict is to disrupt the upcoming elections.

SSC-Khaatumo accused Somaliland of responsibility for the ongoing two-day conflict in the Qorilugud area.

SSC-Khatumo’s Minister of Information, Najiib Barkhadle, told media in Las Anood that Somaliland forces attacked their defenses yesterday and today.

The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of the Somali government issued a peace call regarding the conflicts between clans in the Qorilugud and Shanged areas of the Togdher region.

The ministry’s official statement called for an immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities, condemning the violence that resulted in bloodshed. The ministry emphasized the urgent need to stop the conflict to prevent further loss of life.
