SNA forces clash over land in the capital

MOGADISHU (SD)-A clash between government forces in Somalia, resulting in various casualties, occurred in the area from Ex-Control Afgoye junction to Soonakey. The conflict stemmed from government forces demolishing structures on contested land.

Government troops organized along clan lines confronted other government troops attempting to forcibly remove people from land reportedly owned by the government in that area.

The two opposing forces engaged in a prolonged battle, leading to chaos in the area. Businesses and schools in the vicinity were closed.

Reports indicate that the conflict caused casualties among the combatants and civilians. Both sides remain in the contested area, and further clashes could erupt at any time.

Reinforcements from both sides have reportedly arrived at the conflict zone, and military officials are attempting to mediate and resolve the situation.
