Somaliland asks Taiwan to help with Covid-19 vaccine

Hargeisa (SD) – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today received at his office the Ambassador of Taiwan to the Republic of Somaliland, Allen C. Lou, accompanied by senior officials of the embassy.

The meeting between the President and the Taiwanese Ambassador, focused on the promotion of effective relations between the two countries and to increase the scholarships provided by Taiwan to Somaliland students and to further accelerate the development projects that the two countries have previously discussed in the past, according to state media.

The two sides also discussed health issues in their meeting, in particular the Covid-19 virus and how Taiwan can help the Republic of Somaliland receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

At the meeting, the President of Somaliland and the Ambassador of Taiwan agreed to further strengthen cooperation and friendship between the two sides.

Somaliland and Taiwan has formed a political relationship in September of this year, despite fierce opposition from China and Somalia.
