HARGEISA (SD) – The government of Somaliland, thanked Somalia’s government and business community, for their contribution to the reconstruction of the Waheen market.

Somaliland Minister of Planning Omar Abdullahi Bade, who spoke to the media in Hargeisa, said he welcomes the support.

The minister accused the Somali government of politicizing the international aid to Somaliland, adding that the money released by Prime Minister Role announced was meant for Somaliland.

The minister said that Somaliland believes that the World Bank pressured the Somali government to transfer the money to Somaliland.

A recent fire in Hargeisa’s open market caused a widespread damage and destroying both assets and property estimated to be at least couple of billion dollars.
