Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland has strongly condemned the recognition given by the Federal Government of Somalia to the SSC-Khaatumo administration, which is based in the city of Las Anod.

The move has been characterized by SL as a threat to it’s sovereignty. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Government’s recognition of SSC-Khatumo has been described as an act of aggression.

The statement asserts that Somaliland has maintained its sovereignty for over 32 years, during which it has successfully established peace, security, and democratic governance within its borders. It goes on to highlight Somalia’s actions as a potential threat to this stability.

The Somaliland government has called on Somalia to immediately withdraw its support for what it called an armed militia and has also appealed to the international community to reconsider the recognition, given the risk it poses to regional stability.
