WASHINGTON (SD) – The President of the republic of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi is said to visiting the United Nations headquarters where he reportedly met with one of the UN Under-Secretary Generals.
The meeting was held behind closed doors the Somaliland delegation claimed important issues were discussed.
After the meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Issa Keyd Mohamud who accompanied the President to the meeting talked about the outcome of the said meeting.
“Today we had a meeting with one of the Under-secretary Generals of the United Nations to Discuss the Issues of Somaliland and how the United Nations could provide direct assistance to Somaliland without the involvement of any third party.” Minister Issa Keyd claimed.
He added “we also discussed agricultural development and fisheries, the effects of the recurrent droughts and how to deal with precipitations and build more dams in our country. We exchanged ideas on these issues, and the meeting was a success for us and another victory for Somaliland”
The Somaliland delegation did not provide names or pictures of the said UN officials they met with, marking a low point in diplomacy.
However, the president with his delegation could be seen pictured by themselves at the UN head quarters in NY.
After the meeting, the President’s delegation returned to Washington DC to continue their unofficial visit there, making it the ninth day of the President’s visit to the United States.
