Hargeisa January 26, 2023 (SD) – Somaliland’s troops stationed near the Yubbe area in the Sanaag region have reportedly withdrawn from the area yesterday.

According to reports, the troops are said to be heading towards the city of Laascaanood, the capital of the Sool region. The move is said to be an effort to reinforce the troops already stationed in the vicinity of Laascaanood.

This development comes as a conference is planned to take place in Laascaanood in the coming days, where local clan leaders will meet to discuss the situation in the Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn (SSC) regions.

Additionally, the police chief of Tukaraq, which was under Somaliland’s control, announced his resignation from his position and joined the protests of the residents of SSC regions.

Recently, Somaliland’s flag was removed from Tukaraq and replaced with the flag of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the flag of the SSC community.
