Las Anod Feb 28, 2023 (SD) – The news from Sool region indicates that a fierce battle is raging in the outskirts of Laascaanood city, about 6 to 7 kilometers away from the city.

The forces of Somaliland and those of the local community are reportedly using heavy artillery in the conflict, causing heavy casualties among the combatants and civilians.

The commanders leading the SSC militia have claimed victory in today’s battle on the outskirts of Las Anod. They also accused Somaliland forces of shelling Las Anod’s main hospital today.

The Somaliland military has denied shelling any civilian areas of the city and further reported that their troops engaged in fighting that occurred yesterday and today in the outskirts of Laascaanood, and that Somaliland said that the former commanders of the Somali police and navy are in the city of Las Anod and are currently leading the battle.
