Somaliland’s 65,000 doses is out of 300,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, donated to Somalia, and is expected to arrive in Hargeisa tomorrow from Mogadishu.

The 300,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, is donated to Somalia, including Somaliland by COVAX, through the United Nations, and the World Health Organization.

Sources say that the 65,000 donated vaccine to Somaliland is part of the 300,000 doses that arrived in Mogadishu yesterday. A World Health Organization (WHO) plane with vaccine is expected to land at Hargeisa Airport tomorrow.

This COVID-19 vaccine is intended for people who are at the forefront of the fight against the disease, such as health workers, screeners and other vulnerable people.

The news comes as Somaliland’s Minister of Health recently announced that the vaccine will soon arrive in Hargeisa.

Somaliland has previously suspended cooperation with the UN agencies, and asked they not to go through Mogadishu for development aid.
