Djibouti: The President and first lady vaccinated against Covid-19

Djibouti (SD)- Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh and his wife Kadra Haid have received the Covid-19 vaccine today, according to his Facebook page.

“The President of the Republic, Her Excellency Ismail Omar Guelleh and the First Lady and President of the National Union of Djiboutian Women (UNFD), Ms. Kadra Mahamoud Haid, have been vaccinated this Monday against Covid-19. virus.” said the statement.

The vaccination of the president and his wife coincides with the launch of the vaccination program in Djibouti today.

” Through the fact that he vaccinated himself first, President Guelleh carries a message of encouragement to his countrymen, whom he urges to do the same.” said the president’s statement.

Djibouti recently received the first patch of Covid-19 vaccine and plans to vaccinate thousands of people against the virus, which is in a fierce resurgence in the Horn of Africa.

Djibouti’s Minister of Health, Mohamed Warsame Diriye, recently told the media that the current vaccinations are a starting point for those most in need, and that they are waiting for the 300,000 packages purchased by the Djiboutian government from China.
