Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland House of Elders approves the opening of the Political Associations Act, after the law was amended and supplemented by the out going House of Representatives of Somaliland.

The Somaliland House of Elders approved the amendment to the Political Associations Act, which was approved by 48 members, while only 2 members abstained.

The chairman of the UCID party, Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe, termed the law passed by the Guurti as a political failure.

Faisal, said the Senate and outgoing House of Representatives are not legitimate and the Act can only be approved by the new House of Representatives.

The chairman of UCID told the BBC that the presidential election is ahead of the opening of political parties.
