Hargeisa (SD) – The Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Somaliland issues orders to manage expenditures and operations in the country’s 23 election constituencies.
The decree, which came as a result of a meeting between the President, the governors of the regions and the mayors of major cities in Somaliland, is in effect during the country’s transition period.
The 10-point decree regulates the work of local governments in the country, which restricts the powers of mayors. These directives are entrusted with agencies in overseeing the work of local governments until the newly elected councils take office.
These overseers also includes the Governors of the Somaliland Regions and the National Audit Office and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Somaliland.
Somaliland is to hold the long awaited local and parliamentary election on March 31, 2021.
