Somaliland Justices train for election related disputes

Hargeisa (SD) – Chairman of the Supreme Court and chairman of the Judiciary Committee of the Republic of Somaliland, Adam Haji Ali Ahmed today opened a two-day workshop for 25 members of the Chairpersons of the Courts of Appeal, Regional Courts, District Courts and Judges of the various Regional Courts in Hargeisa.

The purpose of the workshop was to prepare for the upcoming elections in the country. The participants were first briefed by Chief Justice Abdirahman Hassan Nur, telling them that during the two days of training, the participants will discuss the electoral law, especially the issues related to election disputes and how the courts can get a better understanding of the election proceedings that are more sensitive than other cases.

Chief Justice Adam Haji Ali, who inaugurated the training, highlighted the scope of the upcoming elections in the country, and called on the chairmen of the various levels of the courts and judges to ensure that if the election-related cases reach them, they should strive for justice. and take it as they see fit, and speed up their decisions on cases, so that transparency and speed are improved.

The Chief Justice noted that the Electoral Commission was doing its job well, but that any pending complaints received by the courts should be prepared for litigation.

On the other hand, he called on the parties and candidates to compete on ideas and contributions to the country, praising the orderliness and political maturity shown so far by the parties and candidates.

Finally, the Speaker commended the people of the Republic of Somaliland for their understanding of governance, unity and security above all else, and urged them to observe the elections.
