Hargeisa (SD) – The Covid 19 vaccinations have been launched in all regions of Somaliland outside the capital Hargeisa today.

According to reporters in Togdheer, Awdal, Sahil, Sanaag and Sool regions, the Covid-19 vaccine is been administered by regional officials, mayors of regional capitals and senior military officials in those regions.

The officials urged the general public in those regions to get the vaccine as part of the Somaliland government’s efforts to control Covid 19.

It is noteworthy that the recently COVAX donated Covid 19 vaccine was administered to the President of the Republic of Somaliland and senior national officials, advising the general public to get the vaccine.

The vaccine is given in the early stages to health professionals and older people living with underlining conditions, and those deemed to be at high risk for the virus.

The Covid-19 virus has killed scores of people in all of Somaliland’s regions in recent weeks, vaccinating as many people as possible is the only hope in curbing the spread of the virus.
