HARGEISA (SD) – The House of Representatives of the Republic of Somaliland made major changes to the proposed 2022 National Budget forecast.
The House of Representatives has increased the salaries of the various Somaliland forces by 30% 2022.
The House of Representatives have also increased the budget for the elections.
The amendments also include large-scale budget changes to social services such as water, education and health.
This is the first time that the House of Representatives has changed as much as 59 Billion Somaliland shillings from its original allocation to another much needed areas.
The Economic and Trade Committee of the House of Representatives of Somaliland has been working on the amendments for more then 2 weeks.
The Somaliland House of Representatives has yesterday approved the 2022 budget of the Somaliland government, totaling 3,447,802,505,538 Shillings.
At yesterday’s session, attended by 67 members, 57 members approved it, while 6 members rejected, abstained by 3 members, and the speaker did not vote.
Some lawmakers fought and had been embroiled in controversy over the way the budget was managed, with some lawmakers arguing it was not properly debated and was forcibly approved.
