Yagori (SD) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Somaliland Yassin Haji Mohamud Hir Faraton, today officially announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs declared his candidacy after a delegation led by Mr. Faraton arrived in Sool region this week, accompanied by the Minister of Information, Public Works and other officials.

The Minister of Information, Culture and Awareness of the Republic of Somaliland Saleban Yusuf Ali Koore who addressed the communities in the areas they passed through in Sool region, informing them of the minister’s decision.

“After a meeting with regional intellectuals, it was decided that the current Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Somaliland Prof. Yasin Haji Mohamud Hir Faraton, will run in the upcoming House of Representatives elections on May 31 of this year, the Government of President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, is committed to making Minister Faraton the new Speaker of the House of Representatives.” Said minister Koore.

The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Mr. Abdirashid Duale Qanbi, who is also visiting Sool regions, described the decision as a historic, and an opportunity for Minister Faraton to run for the House of Representatives.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Somaliland, Yassin Haji Mohamud Hir Faraton, thanked the people of Sool region for the warm welcome extended to his delegation, adding the purpose of their trip was to announce his candidacy for the House of Representatives to become Speaker of the newly elected House.
