Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland Minister of Finance Dr. Saad Ali Shire today launched a tax service partnership between the Ministry of Finance and SOMTEL.

The E-Dahab tax payment service is designed to make it easier for merchants to pay their taxes, through SOMTEL’s E-Dahab program.

The announcement of the program in Hargeisa was attended by the Minister of Finance, the Director General of the Ministry of Finance, the staff of the Ministry of Inland Revenue, the Director General of the Ministry of Commerce, the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce and officials from the telecommunications company SOMTEL.

Director General of the Ministry of Finance Mohamed Abdi Gurhan, who spoke at the event, said the program is part of the Ministry of Finance’s efforts to improve tax collection, adding that the ministry has taken this step so that taxpayers can easily pay their taxes.

SOMTEL Chairman Abdinasir Daud said that the company will work with the Ministry of Finance to facilitate and improve the payment of taxes, and that the service will be a major responsibility of the company.

Finally, the minister of Finance Dr. Saad Ali Shire, officially launched the E-dahab tax payment service and said that this is part of strengthening tax collection and enhancing the various ways citizens can pay their taxes.
