BURAO (SD) -The Somaliland National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has disclosed the seizure of weapons, medicines, and military equipment that it confiscated in the city of Burao.

In a statement and images shared on their Twitter handle, the NIA stated that they intercepted a military cache consisting of weapons, ammunition, medicines, and military uniforms, which were allegedly destined for armed groups in Las Anod.

The statement from the NIA did not provide details on the weapons seized, their origin, or the intended recipients. It also did not provide details on whether any arrests were made or if there was any resistance during the operation.

Somaliland’s security forces have recently intensified operations against what they describe as terrorism, insurgency, and criminal activities in the region.
