Hargeisa (SD) – The newly elected members of the Somaliland House of Representatives Participates in a Training on Responsibility, duties ahead of them and understand what representation is.
The training was jointly organized by SONSAF and SOYDAVO and was opened by the Chairpersons of UCID, Waddani, the Minister of Information, Council Relations, and other officials.
SONSAF Chairman Mr. Anwar Abdirahman Warsame said they are hopeful of working well with the new House of Representatives as they have been working with their predecessor for almost a decade.
Kenyan Parliamentarian Aden Maalim who spoke at a training session for the new members of the Somaliland House of Representatives, called on the government and its people not to be distracted by the country’s lack of recognition, noting that Somaliland and Somalia are two separate countries.
Lawmaker Adan Maalim added that he was happy to participate in the training for the newly elected House of Representatives.
Somaliland’s Minister of Information, Culture and Awareness Saleban Ali Koore said he has been a member of the House of Representatives for more than 12 years.
Minister Kore pointed out that they are independent of government departments, but there is a way for them to work together, adding that no one can interfere in the new House of Representatives’ constitutional duties.
Waddani Party Chairman Abdirahman Irro called on the new members of the House of Representatives to take advantage of the workshop, and offered his experience, as he has been the Speaker of the House for a long time.
UCID Party Chairman Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe who spoke at a workshop for new members of the House of Representatives called on MPs to consider removing tribalism from the country and linking the country to the rest of the world, adding that the council is to balance all of the government departments.
