HARGEISA (SD) – The President of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Iro, has today left for an official work visit to Qatar after receiving an invitation from the Qatari government. The President’s trip will last several days.
This is the first time a president from Somaliland’s self-declared independent administration has made an official visit to Qatar. The President and his delegation traveled on a specially arranged flight.
Accompanying the President on his trip were the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Minister of Internal Affairs and National Security, the Minister of the Presidency, the Minister of Religion and Endowments, the Economic Advisor, and the Chief of Staff of the President’s Office.
During their stay in Doha, Qatar’s capital, the President and his delegation will hold meetings with senior Qatari officials and leaders. They will discuss mutual interests between the two sides, particularly regarding:
Security and stability in the Red Sea, the Arabian Gulf, and the Horn of Africa, cooperation and partnerships, Investment opportunities, economic development, and social issues.
The President’s visit to Qatar highlights Somaliland’s commitment to strengthening and refining its foreign policy, as well as fostering active international relations with the global community.
