Hargeisa August 26, 2023 (SD) – The leaders of the two opposition parties in Somaliland addressed yesterday’s loss in the battles against the forces of the Khatumo forces and the local residents.

The Waddani party presidential candidate, Abdirahman Irro, stated that he condemns what happened yesterday in Goojacade base, and he called on the people of Somaliland to unite and stand against violence.

“I am urging the people of the Republic of Somaliland who are in every corner they inhabit to consider themselves as one entity, to unite their national bond,” said Abdirahman Irro.

Similarly, the leader of the UCID party, Faysal Ali Waraabe, also spoke about the battle that the Somaliland forces engaged in.

He also appealed to the people to ensure that the army is used to protect them and achieve victory.

“I tell the people of Somaliland today that it is necessary for the military not to be demoralized , and these events in the past days, we will overcome them, and we will preserve the flag, the army, and the administration,” said Faysal Warabe.

The Somaliland forces lost control of the Goojacade base yesterday morning, following a fierce battles against SSC-Khatumo forces, during which the area saw extensive clashes.

The military presence in that area has increased significantly, and the commander of the Goojacade base was captured in yesterday’s clashes.
