Somaliland Police Chief raises alarm on influx of drug

Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland Police Chief General Mohamed Aden Saqadhi (Dabagale) at a press conference today said alcohol and cannabis are a major problem in the country.

The commander said there were various ways of smuggling cannabis into the country, such as cannabis smuggling in trucks and stuffing it in mattresses.

The commander also said that there have been a number of incidents of cannabis planted in farms on the outskirts of the city and in homes.

The commander also said they have seen a number cannabis farms on the outskirts of the capital and some planted in homes.

The commander suggested that all government agencies and the community need to work together to eradicate drugs and teaching kids the problems of substance abuse.

Somaliland security forces have seized illicit drugs at the country’s border with Ethiopia.
