Somaliland Presidency accused of staffing misconduct on MIDA finsom project

HARGEISA (SD) – Director General of the Ministry of Health Dr. Mohamed Abdi Hergeye has outsourced a new project from the MIDA finsom project funded by the Finnish government through the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

This project, which first started in the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Somaliland in 2017 and ended in 2020, was employed a young woman from the Ministry of Health.

As the project resumes in Somaliland in 2022, the director general of the ministry, Mohamed Abdi Hergeye, has mismanaged the administration and who will work on the MIDA finsom project, which is funded by the Finnish government.

Sources close to the ministry told local media that the Director had told the staff of the Ministry of Health who wanted to compete fairly that someone from the presidency would be recruiting for the position which angered the qualified staff who wanted to apply for the position.

The project aims to bring highly qualified doctors to hospitals across the country to improve medical services in those hospitals.

Officials at the MIDA finsom project funded by the Finnish government have not yet commented on allegations of corruption by the Director General of the Ministry of Health Dr. Mohamed Abdi Hergeye.
