Somaliland President Congratulates a Deaf Team for winning a Djibouti Tournament

Hargeisa (SD) – The President of the Republic of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi, has today received a deaf and hard of hearing football team from Awdal region, who won a tournament held in neighboring Djibouti.

The team, which won by seven goals to nil in a final match against a team from Djibouti, was greeted by the president with their trophy and praised their efforts in raising the name of their nation.

“I welcome you, I congratulate you, I pray for you, we are proud of you, I admire you, and we are very, very happy with what you have done, your ability and your dignity.” Said President Bihi.

The president praised the ability and talent of those with special needs and how the nation should benefit from them, urging them to redouble their efforts and showcase their hidden powers.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Boos Mire Mohamed, congratulated the Deaf Team which is also the national football league champions.

Chairman of the Somaliland Premier League, Mr. Samaron Abdullahi Elmi, Deputy Chairman of Special Needs Mr. Guelleh Rashid Hussein and the captain of the team that won the Djibouti Cup for the Deaf, Captain Sayid Mohamed Ahmed, all spoke and thanked the Somaliland President for the reception and encouragement.
