Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali Federal Citizenship and Immigration Agency has informed Kenyans traveling to Somalia are required to have a valid Visa, and should apply Somali Embassy in Nairobi.
Kenyans traveling on diplomatic passports were also informed that they are required to get Visas from Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
“In line with the federal government’s policy of ensuring security, improving the country’s immigration system and reducing the risk of Covid-19 infection, effective December 13, 2020, Kenyan passport holders seeking to enter the territory of the Federal Republic of Somalia, need a Visa, they can get it from Somali embassies, ”the statement said.
The move comes amid a recent diplomatic raw with Kenya, after the government summoned the Somali ambassador in Nairobi, while the Kenyan ambassador in Mogadishu was ordered to return to his homeland.
The Kenyan government has not yet commented on the new requirements on its citizens traveling to Somalia.
