HARGEISA (SD) – Somaliland President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) held an important meeting today at the Presidential Palace with the Ambassador of Turkey to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, and his delegation. Their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Somaliland and Turkey.
The Turkish Ambassador congratulated President Irro on his electoral victory and acknowledged Somaliland’s democratic maturity and smooth transition of power. He praised Somaliland’s peaceful transfer of leadership, describing it as a rare achievement in the Horn of Africa. He also commended the resilience of the Somaliland people.
The meeting focused on key issues, including peacebuilding, economic cooperation, trade and investment, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, skills training, and humanitarian collaboration.
President Irro expressed Somaliland’s strong interest in establishing direct and multi-faceted relations with Turkey.
