Hargeisa (SD) – The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today thanked the seven members of the National Electoral Commission for holding free and fair elections in the country, which has greatly enhanced the country’s reputation and democracy.
“On behalf of the nation, I invited you here to thank you for the way you conducted the elections. We thank you for your hard work, and for the justice you have done, and for the people who competed. You have shown responsibility, trust and diligence. ” President Bihi told the Commissioners.
The President Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, extended his special thanks to all the staff who worked on the recent elections, affirming that they have effectively fulfilled their national responsibilities, he also praised the national political parties, especially the opposition, for their role.
The President also praised other institutions that played a pivotal role in the recent parliamentary and local elections, with particular reference to national and independent media.
The President thanked the people of Somaliland for their peaceful participation in the elections, and commended the international community and all those who contributed to the elections.
Meanwhile, President Muse Bihi Abdi has sent a message to the people of Somaliland about the upcoming elections for the speaker of the House of Representatives, mayors and their deputies in all districts, reaffirming his commitment to a peaceful process.
