Hargeisa March 14, 2023 (SD) – The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, has stated that the conflict in Laascaanood involves Somaliland citizens who are protesting against their government’s policies and that it is imperative for peace to be restored in the area.
The President also acknowledged the need for his government to find a solution to the conflict in Laascaanood, stating that it was a regrettable situation that should not have happened. The President welcomed anyone who is working to restore peace in Laascaanood.
However, he warned that those who are creating tension and instability in the region should be cautious, and he criticized Puntland for trying to exploit the situation in Sool.
Finally, the President emphasized the importance of African countries working together to prevent border disputes, stating that conflicts that arise from such disputes can lead to devastating consequences.
He expressed optimism that peace would soon be restored in Laascaanood and called on local leaders to work with the government to resolve the conflict.
