Lasanod (SD) – Fighting has reportedly erupted this morning in Saax-meygag area of Sool region, near Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland.

Reports say that the fighting between the two clans living in Sool and Nugal regions is based on grazing land in that area.

The exact number of casualties is not yet known, but preliminary reports indicate that at least nine people have been killed and many more injured, while some reports say the losses are higher.

The report added that the fighting was sparked by a new settlement that the two communities wanted to establish in the disputed area.

Various calls for an end to the conflict have been made by Somaliland Government and the Puntland administration of Somalia, in order to bring peace to the two fraternal communities.
