Erigavo – (SD) – Somaliland military court has today concluded a rape case of four police officers operating in Erigavo, Sanaag region.

The court found the soldiers guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl in the middle of this year in El-Afweyn, in Sanaag region.

The men were convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison each, the judge said.

The court has acquitted two other accused soldiers of their involvement in the rape of a 13-year-old girl.

The court was attended by relatives of the victim as well as relatives of convicted soldiers who witnessed the verdict.

The parents of the raped Girl, who has been waiting for justice for some time, welcoming the sentence handed down to the four men convicted of the crime.

Somaliland security forces has previously arrested and the courts handed down various sentences to men accused of raping in different regions.
