Las Anod (SD) – The chairman of the Somaliland Electoral Commission in the Sool region, Abdillahi Laba-gole, was killed by gunmen in Las Anod.

The unidentified gunmen killed the Sool Regional Electoral Commission chairman Abdillahi Laba-gole as he entered his home, residents told local media.

There was no immediate word from the Sool security services, but police were seen everywhere conducting investigation into the murder.

The Sool region of Somaliland is also claimed by Puntland region of Somalia, a number of senior Somaliland officials have been killed there the last few years.

Somaliland forces also fought bitter fights with Puntland forces there since 2010 when Somaliland reclaimed control of the region.
