Somaliland Spy Agency raids MMTV Headquarters

HARGEISA (SD) -Somaliland’s security forces arrested two journalists and a technician from MM Television last night during a live discussion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The discussion, hosted by journalists Mohamed Ilig and Abdishakur Dayib, included Faysal Ali Sheikh, the head of the Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Preparedness Agency, and the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Yusuf Garaad Omar Ahmed. The discussions focused on the implications and risks of the recent MoU between Somaliland and Ethiopia.

During the discussion, security forces reportedly raided the MM TV headquarters in Hargeisa and detained Journalist Mohamed Ilig, Journalist Mohamed Andar, and technician Ilyas Abdinasir.

As of now, authorities in Somaliland have not provided any official statements or addressed the arrest of the journalists and the artist that occurred yesterday.
